Jan 2023 News Update:
Hello again Cougar families! Already the school year is half over as we begin our 3rd quarter. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us, we are entering the new year thankful for all of you and your continued support as we navigated the difficult decisions we had to make in the interest of safety for our Cougars. We have every hope that Santa will be able to return next Christmas. So here's to 2023 hopefully being a less challenging year!
A few things happening next month: TUSD will have reps from all their elementary schools gathered at the Children's Museum on Feb 1st for Kinder Readiness from 5-7pm. At a later date TBD, Carrillo will host our Kinder Kick-Off event at school for incoming families. If you know of any families looking for a school for their new kindergarteners, let them know about Carrillo!
February is "Love of Reading" Month. Carrillo is looking for volunteers to come and read to classes ALL MONTH LONG. Principal Bittel's goal is to have one reader in every class for every day of the month and we encourage you all to sign up to read. Reading to a class is a wonderful way to give back to our community!
February will also bring the Scholastic Book Fair back for the week of the 24th. Mr. Brandt our librarian is going to be needing parent support to help him set up the book fair shelves and also as an extra pair of eyes in the library while he is handling the register. Be on the lookout for a Sign Up Genius coming to you via Parent Link soon.
As you can see February will be jam packed with lots of ways to help and support our school! Hope to see you there!
