PTO News
Hello families and welcome to the final quarter here at Carrillo!

So much has happened and there is still so much to do before the end of the school year.

We had a blast with our door decorating contest for Love of Reading and our Cougars did a great job showcasing all the reasons “Why We LOVE Reading”. We had three winners voted on by the TUSD Governing Board:
1st place - Ms. Fermawi’s 4th grade class
2nd place - Ms. Tautimer’s 1st grade class
3rd place - Ms. Barraza’s 2nd grade class

We also had a lot of fun with Carina the Cougar at our Walk-A-Thon earning a total of $5,300.40! Way to go, Cougars! Since we enjoy some friendly competition here at Carrillo, we decided to also hold a prize contest for the top three classes that raised the most money:
1st place - Ms. Maldonado’s 3rd grade class raised $655
2nd place - Ms. Tautimer’s 1st grade class raised $640.31
3rd place - Ms. Castro’s Kindergarten class raised $588

PTO could not have managed these events without the help of our parents, staff and especially the wonderful student leaders in the SWAT team. Thank you to everyone who participated and raised money to support their school. Our prize winners will get to pick from a variety of themed parties hosted by PTO including Eegee’s, a pizza party, a glow stick party and even a bookmark making party!

Coming up this quarter we have testing in April, and thanks to donors and PTO funds we are able to provide water bottles and snacks to each student testing to ensure they are focused and ready to do their best during assessments.

We also have our annual Luau happening on April 29th. Be on the lookout for more information coming home soon - PTO loves our parent volunteers that help to run our ticket sales booth. A SignUp Genius link will be sent home for parents to volunteer for specific time slots.

Don’t forget, the first week of May is also Teacher Appreciation Week. I encourage all parents and guardians to think of creative ways to show your teachers here at Carrillo how much we appreciate all their hard work and dedication to our students. Something as simple as a nice handwritten card from you and your kiddo, a gift card to a favorite restaurant or bookstore, or even some freshly baked goodies are great ways to show your appreciation.
